Dental Technology at Our Stone Oak Office

A lot of people don’t go to the dentist because they have an outdated picture in their head—sparse treatment rooms, noisy drills, painful procedures. At Sonterra Dental, we’re rebranding the dental experience, and using the latest technology is a big part of that movement. In our warm, plush treatment rooms are tools that reduce pain, make procedures go faster, and minimize anxiety. From lasers that lessen inflammation and help you heal to digital scanning tools that let you actually visualize your treatment plan, our San Antonio dentist office equipment will change the way you think about dentistry.

Digital X-Rays: A New Spin on an Old Diagnostic Tool

Our digital scans are comfortable, fast, and clear, allowing us a thorough glimpse at your teeth and underlying structures without inconveniencing you. On top of that, the biggest benefit of digital x-rays is that they emit significantly less radiation than traditional film x-rays. This not only ensures your safety during diagnostic procedures but also offers peace of mind.

Intraoral Cameras: No Oral Health Care Stone Unturned

By utilizing state-of-the-art intraoral cameras, we provide you with high-resolution, detailed images of your mouth. This allows us to see hard-to-glimpse areas, ensuring no health issues are lurking there undetected. Advanced visual insight from these cameras empowers you to actively engage and collaborate with us, so that you can make informed choices for your oral health.

iTero® Digital Scanning: Meticulous Imaging

Leveraging the advanced iTero® intraoral scanner, we capture highly detailed and precise dental impressions with an immediacy that will surprise you. The iTero produces 3D models that are great for visualizing treatment, such as for Invisalign®. These scans also help us detect cavities and other oral health issues. This tool not only reduces your time spent in the chair but also ensures that any restorations or clear aligners fit flawlessly, enhancing your overall experience.

T-Scan™: Advanced Insight into Your Bite

The T-Scan™ system offers a digitized bite analysis. What does that mean? Our San Antonio dental experts can diagnose and treat occlusal (bite) issues more effectively. This helps us in several areas of care from planning for Invisalign to general and restorative procedures. The T-Scan’s cutting-edge technology quickly and precisely analyzes both the placement and the forces of your bite, helping us to identify any imbalances and address them accordingly.

DentalVibe®: Eject Anxiety
with This Injection System

The fear of painful injections keeps too many patients from seeing the dentist, but getting local anesthesia for procedures doesn’t have to be a trial. The DentalVibe® injection system makes getting shots easy. By utilizing this technology, you can get numbed for procedures with minimal discomfort and anxiety. There’s no reason to put off treatment any longer thanks to DentalVibe.

Solea® Laser: Get Bleeding-Edge Care without Bleeding

Say goodbye to drills and needles with Solea All-Tissue Dental Laser®. Laser dentistry provides a gentle and anxiety-free treatment experience. This tech makes procedures themselves easier and aids in recovery by reducing pain, speeding up healing, and minimizing post-op bleeding. From cosmetic procedures like gum contouring to general dentistry care, the Solea laser has many applications in Sonterra Dental’s Stone Oak dental practice.

3D Printing: Tangible Planning and Results

This game-changing tool allows us to create and print smile designs so that you can see where your oral health path with our dentists leads. We can also utilize 3D printing to create restorations and tools for care, cutting down on turnaround times and saving you trips to our dentist office near Hollywood Park.

FAQs

Am I a candidate for full‑mouth implants?

A common first question we hear is “Am I a candidate for full‑mouth implants?” Many of the patients Dr. Woods sees are 40–65 and have delayed care for years, often with several missing or loose teeth and large decay. A candidacy assessment starts with a consultation and AI‑assisted X‑rays to understand what’s really happening.

Patients receiving full‑mouth implants get temporary teeth the next day. After healing, they typically return around three months later for a second set of temporaries; if they love that, they come back next time for finals—commonly about three visits total.

Yes—Dr. Woods explains that patients receive temporary teeth the next day after surgery for full‑mouth implant cases.

IV sedation and nitrous/laughing gas are available, and the team does everything possible to help patients feel comfortable.

The practice uses AI to review X‑rays. Dr. Woods describes it as non‑biased and a way to standardize doctors so every patient receives the same standard of care. Plans include applying AI to note taking and treatment‑planningcommunication prompts, helping clinicians spend more time with patients.

Dr. Woods is clear about limits: AI is “only as good as the code,” and there’s a risk clinicians could overrely on it instead of continuing to learn, read X‑rays, and communicate with patients.

Many patients ask very practical questions about the steps before implants, including extractions. The consultation and imaging clarify what’s needed; questions like this are part of your initial visit.

Bleeding gums are not normal. Dr. Woods uses a memorable analogy: if your fingernails bleed when touched, you’d be concerned; in the mouth, that bleeding reflects infection and inflammation that can affect overall health (including heart disease).

Yes. The in‑house membership plan covers cleanings, exams, and X‑rays for the year and gives a percentage off additional treatment. For medically necessary cases, the practice bills medical when applicable.

Dr. Woods has the technology, but in his experience, a good deep cleaning and good oral hygiene fix ~98% of problems; lasers may help in select areas with unresolved inflammation, but traditional methods are still good.
